A city overlooking the mediterranean. It is, along with its twin town Ras-El-Barr راس اÙبر a popular summer destination for egyptians from nearby governorates.It is famous for domyati cheese, furniture and beaches, as well as a clothing industry which is in decline. Perhaps it is most famous, though, for being where one of the Nile's two branches in lower egypt meets the mediterranean. There are 5hr slow trains from cairo, and quicker coaches from many egyptian cities. It is easily accessible by road.
